As luck would have it, I am once again associated with a wonderful organization – the Durham Community Foundation (durhamcommunityfoundation.ca). This is a foundation that disburses to local causes or needs in the Durham region. The difference between this foundation and others is that financial gifts donated to them are invested – creating a lasting legacy, and the funds earned are what supports local causes. This year, I was asked to chair their 2014 Odyssey Ball Gala. This annual fund raising event is taking place on Saturday, February 1st at the Ajax Convention Center and it promises to be a fantastic evening. The meal was selected by a fellow foodie who sits on the committee and myself (of course) – so you know it has to be good! The theme this year – New York, New York! (Additional information is available on their site.)

Christine Bentley will be our MC, Christian Pritchard our Live Auctioneer. Tickets are $175 per person with corporate table sponsorship opportunities still available. And, we are always looking for donations for our live and silent auctions – thanks to many of you who have already donated to this cause. I think it was best said by Sir Winston Churchill “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”. So, if you’d like to attend, sponsor a table or donate an item to our silent auction, please call Vivian Curl, Executive Director – Durham Community Foundation at 1-888-230-0333.
